Miami of Ohio: The Cradle of Coaches
Published in Hardcover by Troy Daily News (October, 1983)
Author: Bob Kurz
Average review score:

What a story!
In September 1999 when I became a staff member of Miami University, I was given several books to read regarding Miami's history. Although I'm not a sports fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the Cradle of Coaches. The story of how the "famous" coaches came to be and why Miami was called the "cradle" is a fascinating story. Remember Ara Parashegian...he was a Miami coach. If you love to know how coaches became "famous", read Cradle of Coaches! Go Redhawks!

The Miami-Illinois Language (Studies in the Native Languages of the Americas Series)
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Nebraska Pr (March, 2003)
Author: David J. Costa
Average review score:

A complex technical map of how people once communicated
Compiled by professional linguist David J. Costa, The Miami-Illinois Language is an exhaustive grammatical reconstruction of the language spoken by the Miami and the Illinois Native Americans -- dialects of the Algonquian language family. The populations of the speakers of these languages were decimated by warfare and disease; now, The Miami-Illinois Language pieces together a complex technical map of how people once communicated, with information from surviving stories, historical sources, comparison with related languages and more. A seminal work of impeccable scholarship, The Miami-Illinois Language is very highly recommended for inclusion into Native American Studies in general, and Native American Linguistics reference collections in particular.

GREAT!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Mandy's really clever, tricking those reporters...except Hugo. Well, I admit he was tricked...but only from a while. I highly recommend this book. It's a pity. The Newspaper Kids series are great but it's not famous.

Nieve Sobre Miami (Una Historia De LA Cocaina En Magic City)
Published in Paperback by Ediciones Universal (January, 1992)
Author: Juan Carlos Castillon
Average review score:

Season of innocence : the Munroes at the Barnacle in early Coconut Grove
Published in Unknown Binding by Pickering Press ()
Author: Deborah A. Coulombe
Average review score:

Quick read, obscure subject
The book is a quick read about the life of South Florida pioneer Ralph Munroe and his family. For me it is interesting because I live near Ralph Munroe's homestead, now a Florida state park called The Barnacle. But to others, the story of Ralph Munroe and his family appeals on a different level. The timeless values of the man and the way they have endured in his family are something of universal appeal. This book may also appeal to sailing afficionados interested in learning about Munroe, who was an early proponent and proliferator of the Sharpie style of sailboats, as well as being the Commodore of the Biscayne Yacht Club.

Snagged: A Regan Reilly Mystery
Published in Paperback by Chivers North Amer (April, 1994)
Author: Carol Higgins Clark
Average review score:

A Great Mystery for All Clark Fans
A sharp and satisfying mystery with a fast paced story that is both glamorous and intricately plotted. Just the right size for reading on a plane ride or on a bruise.

The plot moves along quickly and abounds with humorous touches that weave through the suspenseful story. The characters are eccentric, loving, brave, swarthy and suave. This is the first in the series of Regan Reilly mysteries and sets the tone for those that follow.

PS - snagged refers to the panyhose industry....
